DAY 2.- LA PAZ

Embark on an exploration of La Paz. What makes this city unique is its surreal public transportation system, featuring cable cars that interconnect it in an almost magical manner. These cable cars are not just a mode of transport; they are an essential part of our journey, inviting us to unravel the city’s enchantments and mysteries.

La Paz is nestled in a valley, starting at an altitude of 4100 meters above sea level and descending to 2800 meters above sea level. The city offers a mesmerizing view from every angle, and its topography renders it one of Bolivia’s most alluring destinations. It seamlessly blends modernity with tradition, offering visitors a chance to explore its environmental, social, and economic facets. Amidst this backdrop, you’ll marvel at the juxtaposition of technological advancement, featuring one of the world’s longest and most modern cable car networks.

During our city exploration, we will visit some of La Paz’s iconic landmarks, including the San Francisco Church, the Witches’ Market, and a delightful stop at Lanza Market to savor the city’s famous chorizo sandwiches. We’ll continue our journey through Plaza Murillo, home to legislative and government palaces, and stroll down the charming Jaén Street. From a scenic viewpoint, we’ll witness the majesty of Our Lady of La Paz.

Our adventure will also take us on the red cable car to the city’s northern part, offering insights into Andean cosmology and the significance of life after death. Here, we’ll savor a unique cinnamon ice cream known as “quita pena” (sorrow reliever), conveniently located in front of the general cemetery. Additionally, we’ll learn about coca leaf readings and partake in other Andean ceremonies as offerings to Pachamama (Mother Earth).
After an enriching day of exploration, we’ll return to our hotel for another night in La Paz.

DAY 3: LA PAZ TO UYUNI

Today, we depart on a regular flight to Uyuni, where our salt flats adventure begins. Upon arrival, our first stop is the Train Cemetery. This marks the commencement of our journey into the heart of the famous Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat.

However, our focus lies deeper within the salt flat, where we’ll encounter surreal sights such as salt eyes, salt blocks, and salt mounds. This unique landscape will make us feel like solitary explorers in the midst of an otherworldly desert.

After a few hours of exploration, we’ll reach Incahuasi Island, a remarkable place where we’ll have the privilege of encountering few other visitors. Here, we’ll marvel at towering giant cacti and observe the natural wildlife, including various bird species and vizcachas, which are the true inhabitants of this terrain. As the day draws to a close, we’ll witness a spectacular sunset, a moment of unparalleled beauty.
