Our Millenary Tiwanaku programme is an optional add-on to our Historical Tiwanaku programme. You will have the chance to see the remains of the Pumapunku Pyramid, one of Tiwanaku’s four most prized structures. Many of the stones used to build the pyramid weigh over 500 tonnes, and were brought from quarries over 8 km away. These stones have been cut perfectly and have withstood the ravages of the elements. Your guide will introduce you to the different theories surrounding the site before taking you out to the fields to appreciate the Inca raised-bed fields – “sukakollos”.
