DAY 1 PUNO

At a convenient time we will pick you up from Puno on the shores of Lake Titikaka to Desaguadero on the Peru-Bolivia, we drive directly to Tiwanaku, once we arrive we will enjoy a lunch, Tiwanaku is one of Latin America’s most famous historical sites was established as a culture around 500 years before the rise of the Incas, and the empire lasted for several centuries. The ceremonial site you will visit is part of a citadel that is yet to be explored. The pre-Inca ruins of Tiwanaku are a splendid example of one of America’s most important cultures. Some of the well-preserved examples of the Tiwanaku culture that you will see and learn about on the site are the Gateway of the Sun, the Pyramid of Akapana, the Temple of Kalasasaya and the Semi-subterranean Temple, and you will have the chance to visit the archaeological site’s museum to see pieces of unmeasurable wealth and understand with your guide’s help the relation between Tiwanaku and other empires and connections with the world of that time. Stop off at the village of Laja, where the city of La Paz was originally founded. Later arrival to La Paz and short exploration to the city (L)

01 NIGHT IN LA PAZ 

DAY 2 UYUNI

Morning flight from La Paz to Uyuni. At the beginning of the 1900s the first engines and carriages arrived to facilitate exporting tin and silver to Chile. Progress never came to these small communities and the trains have been abandoned as silent witnesses to Bolivia’s mining heyday. Now, after over 100 years, you can wander around and in the remains of these trains as they slowly rust away. After this visit set out for the salt flats past a small settlement called Colchani where the locals process salt. We will not stop for much time as we are aiming to get to the middle of the Salt flats to see the eyes, salt mountains and salt blocks. This singular route takes us into one of the world’s most isolated areas where we will be alone surrounded by a glittering white landscape. After a couple of hours arrive at Isla del Pescado or Incahuasi Island to look at giant cacti, birds and vizcachas that have made this island their own. At midday stop for a buffet of delicious local products in the middle of the salt flats, In the afternoon we take one of the hundreds of routes across the salt flats to discover the area, and wait the Sunset with an special table with delicatessen. 01 NIGHT IN UYUNI  SALT FLAT HOTEL 

DAY 3 UYUNI SALT FLATS

This day we will leave very early in the morning to see the sunrise, later we will return to the Hotel to have breakfast and move to Tunupa Volcano and Coquesa Mummies, discover the Salt Flats and appreciate the scenaries, in the case that is rainy season we will provide you boots and discover the wonderful reflect of the Salt Desert, otherwise we will walk to the different villages close Tunupa., In the late afternoon we will enjoy the sunset with champagne. In the evening we will move from the Hotel to take us out into the middle of the salt flats to see the starry sky sparkling above a glittering white carpet. This trip takes about 1½ hours during which you will be able to marvel at the heavens unspoilt by light pollution. (B,L,D)

DAY 4 LA PAZ

After breakfast, we will drive from Uyuni Hotel to the Airport to take a regular flight to La Paz. You now have the chance to see some of the city’s interesting residential and economic areas as we board the Mi Telefèrico Arial cable car which will take us on a 20 minute ride down to the other-worldly Valley of the Moon. After lunch in a typical Bolivian restaurant we will spend some time exploring the remarkable geological formations and shopping for souvenirs before concluding our experiential itinerary.

DAY 5 LA PAZ

Our full day city tour moves at a comfortably slow pace and includes most of the highlights of La Paz, offering visitors a more intimate and in-depth look at the history, culture and fascinating natural landmarks which make La Paz such a unique city. We will start with an early pickup and proceed directly to the very impressive Plaza Murillo in Casco Viejo (the old town), a lovely open square which was designed in 1558 to honor the Bolivian local hero Pedro Murillo. The square is surrounded by historic legislative and government buildings including the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace (built in 1835), the Government Palace, the 1911 Grand Hotel Paris and the National Congress of Bolivia. You will have time to visit one of the museums located along Calle Jaen, a lovely colonial street.  From palaces and state buildings we will move on to visit the fascinating Los Andes district. Here you can observe the nimble fingers of local embroiderers who keep the traditions and culture of Bolivia alive by sewing remarkable costumes for the annual carnival. After a short visit here we will move on to see the lovely Baroque San Francisco Church and the famous Witch’s Market, where you may be tempted to buy natural medicines or weird and wonderful potions
